Aggressive Defense by Former High-Level Prosecutors
Both attorneys at our firm — Jay K. Goldberg and Gerald Allen — have been practicing law for close to three decades. From the mid-1980s through the mid-1990s, both worked in the Kings County District Attorney's office, each reaching the level of First Deputy Bureau Chief with authority over many aspects of policy, procedure and training. In that capacity, each attorney was intimately involved in extensively training assistant district attorneys on all aspects of relevant law. Many of those trained have since gone on to high level legal positions as prosecutors, judges and defense attorneys.
Jay K. Goldberg served as a Deputy Chief in the Kings County Trial Bureau, Grand Jury Bureau, and Domestic Violence Bureau, and then as First Deputy Bureau Chief in the Major Narcotics Investigations Bureau. He has lectured at the New York City Police Academy in areas including search warrants and trial preparation, and to audiences of experienced police officers, (including narcotics bureau officers and local, state and federal police) on matters related to trial technique in drug and other cases. Mr. Goldberg has since successfully defended our clients against criminal allegations involving drugs, weapons, sex offenses and violent crimes — and also aggressively taken action for victims of false arrest and police brutality.
As First Deputy Bureau Chief of the Kings County D.A.'s Criminal Court Bureau, Gerald Allen was a high-level decision maker essentially running the operational aspects of Brooklyn's criminal courts from 1994-96. Over the course of several years, he extensively trained and supervised literally scores of first- and second-year prosecutors. He has lectured at the Police Academy and at various Bar Associations on DWI and DUI. Mr. Allen has since built a reputation as one of New York's truly formidable DUI/DWI defense attorneys and a criminal lawyer well-equipped to handle the most serious and complex charges.
